![]() Press to claim your reward while the completion message is still on the screen if you missed it, press access the side menu, and select the icon that looks like a ribbon award (third from top). This should complete your first Objective: Assign 2 Dwellers to the right room. Then, find the Dweller with the highest Perception (should be one with 5) and assign them to the Water Treatment. Search through your new Dwellers, and find the one with the highest Agility stat (5): assign this Dweller to the Diner. You can now get on with staffing your Vault. Build a Power Generator ( 5/50 Rooms) in its place, and move your two Dwellers to it before destroying the original one you built. Build a Living Quarters ( 4/50 Rooms) on the right of the Elevator on the third level, then destroy the existing one on the first level. If you have the Caps, now is a good time to arrange your Vault layout. The game will then give you five Dwellers to continue your Vault's growth, and leave you to it. ![]() Place the Diner to the right of the elevator, on the second level, and the Water Treatment to the left of the Elevator on the same level. Together with Power, these are your three basic resources to keep your Vault happy and growing. You'll then be instructed to build two more Rooms: the Diner ( 3/24 Room Types 2/50 Rooms), which produces Food, and the Water Treatment room ( 4/24 Room Types 3/50 Rooms), which produces Water. You are also shown how to Rush a room: Press, then to Rush your Power Generator. Next, you are shown how to use to zoom in on a room. You will then be told to assign your second Dweller to the Power Room, despite them not having a very high Strength value. Each time you try to add a dweller to a room in your vault, it will display this information for the SPECIAL stat that is required for that room. As you hover over the room, you should see a green S and the number 5: this is the amount of Strength the Dweller will contribute to this room. Hold with this Dweller selected, and move them to your Power Generator. One of these dwellers will have a Strength stat of 5, which makes them suitable to work in your new Power Generator. You'll now have two Dwellers appear outside your Vault, and the tutorial will show you how to view their SPECIAL stats. ![]() ![]() Use the left analog stick to select the room on the third floor, to the left of the elevator, and press to place your Generator ( 2/24 Room Types 1/50 Rooms). Ideally, we’d place this on the top floor, to the right of the Vault door, but there will be a Living Quarters there ( 1/24 Room Types). The square with in the middle is the place you'll build the room. Press again to confirm the build, and you'll have five options of where to place your room, shown as green squares with a hammer in the centre. Press to open the build menu, and to select the only room it's possible for you to build: a Power Generator. First, you are shown how to build a room. Once you’ve started your new vault, you’ll be shown some screens with some information about how the game works, before you begin the tutorial. Fortunately, no achievements require you to play on this mode, so we’ll stick to the normal difficulty. This ‘Hard’ mode does not allow you to revive any of your unfortunate Dwellers if they are killed, has more dangerous hazards and enemies, and requires higher resource generation to keep your Vault running. Make sure that Survival Mode is not ticked at the top of the screen (press to toggle). ![]() Choose your favourite three digit number to assign to your vault. ![]()
